Our purpose, vision and ambitions

The main aims of the Alliance include being an advocate for service-users at the local Perinatal Mental Health Clinic, raising public and political awareness on perinatal and infant mental health with the aim of influencing policy, and educating healthcare professionals and the general public on issues related to perinatal and infant mental health.

We are working hard to change attitudes and reduce stigma around perinatal mental health, including key factors in breaking down barriers to accessing services in a timely manner.

We continue to promote and support local research related to perinatal mental health issues and have formed partners with a number of other international organisations including the Global Alliance for Maternal Mental Health, World Maternal Mental Health Day and Action on Postpartum Psychosis.

Our Work

• To advocate on behalf of parents and families affected by perinatal illness/es by representing their needs and wants;
• To promote models of good care and practice;
• Raising standards, governance and best practice in delivery of local perinatal mental health services;
• Forging national and international links at all levels to access expertise and enrich understanding;
• To enhance the knowledge and skills of health care professionals by organising various educational opportunities;
• To support new parents through a free online monthly support group;
• To raise funds through sponsorships, donations and fundraising activities.
